We love each other. No really, we do. We think you should love us, too. Today we are continuing our series that lets you get to know our Army of Awesome. Meet our new HealthIT Vice President, Melissa Baratta!
1. HOW WAS YOUR FIRST DAY OF WORK AT ARPR?
Unlike any other day on the job I’ve ever had. My first day was originally going to be at HIMSS, one of the most important conferences of the year for many of our HealthIT clients. The event was cancelled at the last minute due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the team pivoted on a dime to change my onboarding schedule, mail a laptop and materials to my home, and line everything up so I could be ready to go at 9 am that Monday morning. No one missed a beat. It was a whirlwind and we may not have been able to be physically together like we planned, but I felt incredibly connected and supported from day one.
2. WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST NONWORK-RELATED ACHIEVEMENT?
Aside from working to raise two happy, healthy humans, it’d have to be road-tripping across America. After putting myself through grad school (a full time, three-year investment while working on the side – an accomplishment in and of itself), I took a month off before starting a new job in New York. My now-husband and I drove from the east to the west coast and back, visiting 5 national parks and countless state parks and monuments along the way. Google Maps didn’t exist then, so we used old fashioned maps and lived on XM Radio & roadside dives on the wide-open highway. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
3. WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO KARAOKE SONG?
Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind. You know you’d sing along.
4. WHICH WAY DOES YOU TOILET PAPER HANG ON THE WALL – OVER OR UNDER?
5. WHAT IS THE OLDEST THING IN YOUR REFRIGERATOR?
Artisan Salted Maple Caramel. I don’t even like caramel, but a pretty magazine ad got me and I bought it on a whim last Christmas. Probably time to let it go.
6. THOUGHTS ON HOT SAUCE?
Yes, please! Nothing that’s going to make your taste buds burn off, but something flavorful with a good kick. I started subscribing to Fuego Box earlier this year and it’s awesome.
7. WHAT ARE THREE THINGS STILL LEFT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
- Traveling to Madagascar
- Going on an African Safari
- Eating dinner at The French Laundry in Napa
8. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I’m a New England girl – born and raised in a small town called Barre, Vermont. I love a good winter and hitting the mountains for everything from skiing to hiking to camping. I live in NJ now, and can’t say I miss the temps of Vermont but do love to go back to leaf peep whenever I can.
9. WHAT WAS YOUR CHILDHOOD NICKNAME?
Mel. It started in 6th grade and has stuck around ever since.
10. IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THREE APPS ON YOUR PHONE, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
- Google Maps
- Amazon (assuming email + Google Chrome don’t count!)
