We love each other. No really, we do. We think you should love us, too. Today we are continuing our series that lets you get to know our Army of Awesome. Meet our newest Account Director, Willa Hahn.

1. HOW WAS YOUR FIRST DAY OF WORK AT ARPR?

Quiet! Since I started during the pandemic, there weren’t many people in the office when I visited our Atlanta headquarters, but it was great getting to be in an office in person for a bit. Since I work remotely from my home in Albany, NY, I’m looking forward to post-COVID days when I can visit both our offices safely.

2. WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST NON-WORK-RELATED ACHIEVEMENT?

I have been involved in the Miss America Organization since I was 18 years old, earning 5 local titles — Miss Potomac Highlands, Miss Erie Canal, Miss Metropolitan, Miss Northern Star, and Miss Cosmopolitan — as well as spots in the top 10 at state competitions and awards for my talent as a singer. While I am proud of my titles and awards, my biggest achievement as a titleholder was my community service project aimed at encouraging young people to vote and take an active role in government, registering thousands of young voters around New York State. I “aged out” of competing a few years ago, but I’ve remained involved in my community service efforts and the Miss America Organization as a volunteer.

3. IF YOU JOINED THE CIRCUS, WHAT WOULD YOUR ACT BE?

My act would be hog calling! A fun fact about me: I am the 2011 West Virginia Apple Butter Festival hog calling champion. It might not be a traditional circus act, but it’s a circus act people just don’t know they need yet.

4. WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO KARAOKE SONG?

Another fun fact: My karaoke rendition of “Fever” earned me my first job in high school as a hostess at a karaoke restaurant and bar. These days, I prefer singing show tunes, but my (really terrible) Cher impression singing “Bang Bang” has become a popular request from my friends.

5. WHICH TWO CELEBRITIES (DEAD OR ALIVE) WOULD YOU LIKE TO SIT IN BETWEEN ON A 10-HOUR FLIGHT?

Jane Fonda and Bernie Sanders. Jane has always been an inspiration as an actress and 80s fitness icon, but I’m an even bigger fan of her work more recently as an environmental activist. And with Bernie, I think the three of us could solve all of the world’s problems on a 10-hour flight.

6. IS A HOT DOG A SANDWICH AND WHY?

Hot dogs are too good to be sandwiches. They fall into their own perfect category of food.

7. WHAT ARE THREE THINGS STILL LEFT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?

  • Italy — My husband and I were supposed to do our honeymoon in Sicily last year but had to postpone it because of COVID-19. We’re having our in-person wedding in 2022 and we’re hoping we’ll finally be able to do our honeymoon safely too!
  • Travel to all 50 states — I’ve seen a lot of the west and east coast but I have no idea what’s going on in the middle of the country.
  • Meet a president — I started my career in politics, touching work on campaigns at the local, state, and national levels. While I transitioned to tech, I’m still a politics and government junkie and would love to hang out with a president or maybe do a stint as the White House press secretary someday.

8. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?

I was born in Washington, DC but spent most of my childhood growing up in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, a small town in the part of West Virginia that touches Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

9. FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE TECH INDUSTRY?

It’s always changing! Particularly in cybersecurity, it’s something that touches every single industry and there are so many new and interesting threats from the increase in ransomware and nation-state hacking over the last several years to more “sci-fi” threats like deep fakes.

10. IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THREE APPS ON YOUR PHONE, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

Instagram, Gmail, and Words With Friends. My mom and I have a longstanding Words With Friends competition going and I’m very competitive so I can’t give that up.
