One of the top attributes that sets our top tech PR agency apart is the relentless commitment to building a strong and supportive culture. We think holistically about our employees, past unlimited PTO, to make sure that they feel connected and collaborative. Because collectively, we’re unstoppable. In our 2020 virtual working world, we felt that this was more important now than ever.

So, how did we help our employees bond while they worked from home? We gamified it!

This year, every practice group was given the opportunity to host an event on a designated holiday throughout the year and compete for a grand prize. The criteria each team was judged by included creativity, team engagement and, of course, fun! Below are a few highlights from the year:

Valentine’s Day

We’ll start the list with our first and last in-person, internal event for 2020-Cloud team’s Valentine’s Day extravaganza. Walking into the office covered in pink, purple and red balloons that morning really amped everyone up for what was to come. And they did not disappoint – we were serenaded with ARPR’s own rendition of Hotline Bling while we snacked on candy and champagne. A perfect end of day sugar rush.

The digital team threw a truly special fiesta for our whole team!

Cinco De Mayo

Two months into quarantine we arrived at Cinco De Mayo, and the saying “necessity is the mother of invention” could not ring truer.  It was our first virtual event included in the challenge and our Digital Marketing Team knocked it out of the park! The day before the event we all received a mysterious package at our doorstep. What transpired on May 5th was an hour of indoor scavenger hunts, sombrero making, and inventive yet terrible-tasting tacos.

Day of the Hail Mary

The ingenuity continued well into Q3. Since the team couldn’t host a tailgate as is customary in the fall, the Biz Dev Team planned a Day of The Dead inspired virtual tailgate! The team mailed art supplies for a sugar skull painting party on masks of famous football coaches. Followed by a custom-themed game with homemade paper footballs. One by one everyone punted their football onto a festive graveyard gameboard with various challenges. Some people had to play flip cup, others did the thriller dance and one even brutally impersonated a Bama fan.

In addition to balancing out work with fun, the tech PR agency also put an emphasis on mental health and wellness. In addition to 2.5 agency-wide mental health days this year, once a week during quarantine Cloud practice group director Blair Ruth Riley guided the team through a mid-day yoga class. It was a great way to refresh and recenter as a team. Together, we breathed positivity in and stress out.

So, who won the challenge? Well, we’re currently tabulating all of the team’s votes so you’ll have to check out our Twitter or Instagram accounts to find out early next year!
