We love each other. No really, we do. We think you should love us, too. Today we are continuing our series that lets you get to know our Army of Awesome. Meet our newest Marketing andBusiness Development Coordinator, Taylor Spung!
1. How was your first day of work at ARPR?
Oh, do you mean what was it like going to work in an office located in Ponce City Market, A.K.A an adult playground? It’s amazing! And not only is the location supreme, the people are too. Going through onboarding sessions doesn’t feel like “onboarding” when you’re surrounded by outgoing, fascinating and driven people.
2. What song best describes your work ethic?
“Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind and Fire…nothing like a good funk tune to start the motivation!
3. Describe your ultimate sandwich?
As a recent vegetarian convert, I truly enjoy the comfort of a spicy grilled cheese sandwich with crunchy sourdough bread. Obviously paired with some tomato soup…and if that’s not satisfying enough, I’ll add some Flaming Hot Cheetos for EXTRA spice and crunch.
4. Which two celebrities (dead or alive) would you pick to be your parents?
Weirdly enough, I’ve thought about this before. I would love to have Steve Carell and Sandra Bullock from the Blindside as my parents for two reasons. 1) Steve Carell would be the comic relief in my life and 2) Sandra Bullock from the Blindside would be the constant and undying support system creating the perfect duo.
Creating relationships with others who share my visual disability and mentoring those younger than me who need guidance and a friend to share funny/awkward blind people stories.
6. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Dishonesty. I value honesty and with that comes endless trust. Also, pens without caps…
7. Describe yourself in 3 words.
Resourceful, honest and adventurous.
8. Your life would be meaningless without…
My fluffy, four-legged daughter, Piper. She is the light of my life and I can’t imagine getting through life without her.
9. Favorite board game?
Loopin’ Louie…it might be for children 5+, but trust me, it gets intense.
10. Where did you grow up?
I’ve been in Georgia since I was two and grew up OTP (outside the perimeter) in a town called Alpharetta.
As someone with a visual disability, the tech industry sparks my interest for a different reason than most. Technology allows me to be independent, enabling me to navigate a world meant for those without disabilities. Although I know I would find a way around it, my life would be drastically different without technology.
12. If you could bring one piece of technology to a remote island, which would it be?
My Roomba vacuum (A.K.A Roomba Rousey). I don’t need anything to entertain me because I’m fairly good at doing that without technology and I’m sure that place would be extremely dirty.
13. If you were a Star Wars character, which would you be?
Definitely a porg. They are so cute.
14. What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Eek, sadly right now you would find old strawberries, moldy bread and lots of cheese – I’ve been out of town and it’s the holidays!
15. How would you explain what the Internet is to your 5-year-old nephew?
The internet is like a brain for computers. It has LOADS of information that continuously changes; some useful and some useless.
